Bicycle Donation to Adopted Families

When it was clear that we would not be able to conduct our end-of-the year excursions for the Ivy League participants, Board Member Ferne Mosley immediately offered a solution – bicycles for the children of our Adopted Families. The Adopted Family program is to help families reach self-sufficiency. With the world purchasing bikes to stay fit during the pandemic, we did not expect the immense demand for bicycles and the long delay in the bikes being delivered. However, bicycles were purchased and delivered to the 17 children of our five adopted families in July and August – just in time for the last hot and humid days of summer! Executive Director Cheryl, along with Charities Members, Pearl Stewart and Joyce White, assisted families at the bike shop. The children were very appreciative and happy.  They have been through so much during this pandemic crisis. It was nice that we were able to bring a little joy to them. The bicycles were purchased at A&M Cycle located in Bowie, MD.
