Men of the Ivy Spotlight: John Simms

This month we are pleased to recognize Mr. John Simms, the husband of Charities' third President Oretha Bridgwater-Sims. We are recognizing John, a Silver Man of the Ivy donor, because of his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever needed. John always wears a cheerful smile even when he was called upon to lift hundreds of cases of soda and water to supply our groundbreaking program or setting up chairs and tables for special events. Whenever John comes to the Ivy Youth and Family Center, you can be sure that he will be proudly donning his Men of the Ivy polo shirt. He keeps it ready at all times!

John is retired military and recently spends his time helping residents register for COVID vaccinations and taking elderly residents to receive their shots. During this past winter, he even drove residents to their appointments in the snow to ensure that they were vaccinated. On the weekends, John volunteers to take meals to seniors. Volunteering is clearly his passion. Thank you, John, for your commitment to serving the citizens of Prince George's County, MD, and most importantly, your support of Ivy Community Charities!
