When we received the call from the Office of the Prince George's County Executive to help with the newly created program to address food insecurities that were exacerbated by the pandemic, we had no idea what to expect. But that did not stop Sandra Boatman from jumping right in and spearheading the Stand Up and Deliver Program, a tremendous effort to serve our residents all across the County. Each week, we purchased hot meals from local restaurants representing various ethnic cuisines to be distributed at area churches, schools and other locations. Our efforts continued through Thanksgiving as Charities was commissioned to purchase 1000 produce boxes among the 7000 boxes and bags of produce, meat and dairy products that were distributed at FedEx Field, home of the Washington Football Team. Thanks to Sandra's commitment and dedication, Charities was able to provide food items to more than 6500 individuals in 2020. So far in 2021, Sandra has worked with four local restaurants and five sites including one new restaurant and one new site added to our delivery cycle and distributed food to 3155 residents. Sandra attends St. John's CME Church in Washington, DC where she is a Stewardess and serves as the Chair of the Scholarship Ministry. Thank you, Sandra, for your tireless service! We salute you as you celebrate 30 years as a Charities volunteer in 2021!
